Wave overtopping 9th February 2020

9th February 2020

The latest news is that there has been much wave overtopping of the crest of the dam that holds back Wimbledon Park Lake today. This has led to water flowing over the path that runs beside the lake and down into the public park. The main flows through the boat storage and around the watersports building converge on the corner of the bowls green. The green is flooding yet again and some water is also going into the crazy golf area. All this is despite the water level of the lake being quite low. The top of the weir is 23cm below the crest of the dam and the level today is around 22cm down. It would be much worse were the lake more full.
